2. What are called slender columns?
3. What is the function of shear wall?
4. What is the function of corbel?
5. What are the assumptions made in yield line theory?

PART B — (5 x 16 = 80 marks)
11. (a) A simply supported one way slab 3.5 m span carries live load of 4 kN/m2 and floor finish of 1.5 kN/m2. The depth of the slab is 160mm with a clear cover of 30 mm. The steel consists of 8 mm dia 90mm c/c. Assume permanent load equal to dead load plus 20% of live load. Calculate the total deflection. Use M25 concrete and Fe415 steel. (16)
